Why I Am Grateful For a Career As a Reseller

There are a lot of varying opinions about a career as a reseller. While some view it as a necessary evil, a stop off on the way to whatever other career they’re pursuing, I view it with sheer gratitude.

Oh sure, I have days where I am irritated by how many different ways I’m asked to measure a shirt, but overall I feel like I have found a home in this profession.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane shall we? I’ll explain why. 

In 2013 I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Growing up, it was my Dad’s dream for me to get good grades, go to college, graduate, and get an office job where I would be able to pay my bills.

I don’t blame my Dad for his assumption that a college degree would prevent me from having to live life the way we did growing up.

I mean my parents raised four kids on $25,000/year. I have NO idea how they did it. Thank God for government assistance programs.

It’s funny how little you actually know about life after college. While I was in college I majored in Psychology and was sure I would find a well paying job once I graduated.

However, what no one really explained to me, until it was too late, is that about the only way to get a job in your field with a Psychology degree is to go to graduate school.

Bless my heart. I mean I could’ve worked in HR somewhere with a Psychology degree, but I kept running into the problem of they wanted you to have at least two years of work experience before they would even consider you for the position.

Ummm hello, I literally just graduated from college five minutes ago. The only work experience I had was waitressing.

I thought I would never find a job, but I got a lucky break and was hired on at the non profit I interned for a few months before graduating.

Post college 2013 in my first job for Madison County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) 

I loved my boss. She was my first experience with working for someone who actually cared about you.

Fast forward to 2018 and I was on my fourth office job in five years. I often wondered if there was something wrong with me. I was a hard worker no doubt, but after about a year in each of those jobs I started to feel like a caged animal.

My migraines would increase in frequency and each Sunday was torture as I thought about having to go into work the next morning.

Honestly, none of the jobs were terrible jobs. They paid well, my bosses were nice (well most of them), and the work wasn’t difficult.

My problem? I realized after lots of journaling and self reflection that I HATE sitting still.

Office work = sitting still. A LOT. There are meetings, more meetings, and did I mention that sometimes we would have meetings about meetings.

I am often surprised, when I look back that I never picked up a pencil and jabbed it through my eye while sitting in yet another boring ass compliance meeting.

“I have to get out of here,” I would often think to myself.

At this time, I was no stranger to entrepreneurship.

Since 2010 I had been apart of many different business. My very first one being a Network Marketing business, in a company called BeautiControl (they are no longer around).

I joined BeautiControl three different times before I was convinced network marketing wasn’t for me.

I think I kept going back because it was the only business opportunity I could see that would allow me to start without a major investment. All I really needed was my hard work and determination.

After the third try I finally gave up on BeautiControl and decided to start my own online business as a Weight Loss Coach.

In 2013 I lost 80lbs using diet and exercise and decided to start a blog called From Fluff 2 Fit. I will never forget how it felt to land my first coaching client. She handed me a check for more money than I had ever seen at one time.

I was able to land several clients before my husband at the time told me I was going to have to get a job because From Fluff 2 Fit wasn’t bringing in enough money to support our family. I was absolutely heartbroken.

I will never forget laying on my bathroom floor and crying my eyes out as I realized I would have to go back and get a corporate job. I wasn’t even that upset about the job. I was more upset that my business had failed.

It felt like I lost a person. Like something died. And something did die that day. My hopes and dreams that I could start and grow a successful online business.

Fast forward to 2018. I was in my fourth position since graduating from college and barely six months in I started to feel the cagey feeling again.

I had just finished Marie Forleo’s B-School. I had the tools to start a business but I knew I didn’t want to start another coaching business.

Over the years I learned two major things about myself: 1) I don’t like to sit still so office work is definitely not for me. 2) I prefer businesses that have actual physical products.

The “Laptop Lifestyle” and the “Digital CEO” is very popular. There are people online making millions of dollars running businesses that are purely digital with courses, ebooks, and online coaching.

I knew I didn’t want to build a business that way. So I started googling and eventually landed on Poshmark. I’d read a few articles about women making good money on a platform that allows them to sell used clothes online.

In July 2018, I was introduced to the world of reselling for the first time and I was hooked. In January 2019 I quit my office job to go back to waitressing and build my resale business “Curvy Girl Resale.”

In that time I have come to feel so grateful for a profession that feels like home for me. Sure, it is HARD freaking work. Sourcing and steaming and listing and constantly feeling like you don’t know what the hell you are doing.

But as I am waitressing while I’m building my business I realized that reselling is not nearly as hard as being a waitress. I will take reselling ANY DAY.

For example, one night at work I had a party of 16 BY MYSELF. First, it was 100 degrees in our restaurant at the time and I could not stop sweating.

Secondly I literally ran my ass off with drink refills, and fry refills, and extra this and extra that to make $55.

Now, as a waitress a $55 tip is AMAZING!! But when I think about how hard I had to work to make that $55 I realize reselling is hard but its not THAT hard.

I mean as a reseller I could sell six items for $20 and end up with a $55 profit after fees and cost of goods are removed.

Honestly its all hard, I guess you just have to pick your hard.

One night at work, I had a lady ask me for coke with light ice. Okay, so I brought her a coke with light ice. She looked at it and looked at me and said “This is light ice?!”

And my customer service person, not the real me, said “Oh I’m sorry mam, is that too much ice? Let me take that back and put less ice in there for you!”

Like I said reselling is easier…

I am grateful for these experiences as a waitress though because it gives me perspective. When I grow tired of reselling I will remember what I endured as a waitress.

The back pain, the long nights, the rude customers, the rude cooks (because cooks and servers generally don’t get along. They think we’re all dumb and that somehow they’re better than us…it’s annoying).

Not to mention my income potential as a reseller is so much higher than it is as a waitress.

So, I am grateful for my career as a reseller, because after years of searching for where I fit, I feel like I have finally found my place as a reseller.

Your Poshmark Business Is a Marathon Not a Sprint

 

In all my years as an entrepreneur, the graphic above is one of my all time favorites. Sure, it is a little cheesy but who cares? It represents a major mental challenge that we all face as entrepreneurs…the fear that there will be no success behind the dirt we’re chipping away at.

As much as I hate to feel like the bearer of bad news, I have to tell you something that probably no one has told you…

Every business takes a long time to build. My favorite motivational speaker Les Brown, encourages us all as entrepreneurs to have a 3-5 year perspective on our business success. To be willing to climb the mountain every day for the next 3-5 years.

I tell you this because in the beginning no one told me. I think I have started and quit so many businesses because I legitimately thought something was wrong with me when after three months of trying I wasn’t seeing the success I wanted to see.

In hindsight I realize that was a very naïve perspective but in the moment I didn’t know. You don’t know what you don’t know right?

My Poshmark business has caused a roller coaster of emotion for me over the past six months. I often wonder if ANY of what I’m doing makes a difference and is helping me get to my goal? However, I remind myself on a regular basis that THIS is a business and nothing happens over night.

The great thing about Poshmark is that I actually HAVE made money every single month since I joined. With this business I actually can see a clear path forward. My greatest challenge: Patience.

Unfortunately in business, a lot of people give up because success is not happening fast enough. Honestly, I’ve been guilty of this just about every year since 2010. I’ve started a business/side hustle every year since 2010 and the longest I’ve stuck with one is 4 months. I don’t have a shortage of ideas, I have a shortage of persistence, patience, and commitment.

Or should I say I had…because this year is my year of consistency and commitment. It is the agreement I made with myself when I joined Poshmark at the end of July 2018. I made an agreement with myself that no matter how difficult Poshmark was, or how steep the learning curve was, I had to stick it out for ONE YEAR. No more quitting.

It never fails though, I’ll be scrolling Instagram and I’ll see a stack of Poshmark packages with a caption that says something like “Weekend sales going out,” or “It was a good day on Poshmark.”

For a split second my mind does the comparison thing and I think to myself “but my package stacks don’t look like that! I sold one thing this weekend!” Womp womp…

Then the logical side of my brain reigns me in and says “self, go look at how many listings they have…” And sure enough my inner voice is right.

The people with large stacks of packages more often than not have 1,000 or more listings in their closet. Which clearly means they have been at it a while. My brain reminds me to chill TF out.

So how do you get better at running this marathon instead of being discouraged because you can’t sprint to the finish line?

One: You work on being more patient

Gary Vee, one of my favorite entrepreneurs always says “Your lack of patience is killing you…” And he is right. We are so used to having everything instantly, that we have deluded ourselves into thinking that success can be microwaved, but it can’t.

Success is more of a slow cooker process.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that my business is like a third child for me. I remind myself that my first two babies took 9 months to grow! And that even after they were born, they were completely dependent on me for the first two years.

My business is my third baby and requires just as much care and attention as a baby in utero, a newborn, and a toddler require.

Two: You set goals, or benchmarks for yourself to keep you encouraged

I have strategically laid out a plan for year 1, year 2, and year 3 of my business. The first year for me is the build/attention phase. So this first year I am building my audience and building my customer base.

The goals I have set for myself not only help me stay on track, but they keep me encoruaged becuase each time I accomplish a goal it provides me with a small win.

Trust me, in the marathon that is business, you need those small goals. They are like energy chews for you in the race, giving you the boost you need to push to the next benchmark.

Three: You consistently review why this matters to you!

Finally, you need to constantly remind yourself why this matters to you. For me, my biggest motivator is remembering the angst I felt every day sitting behind a desk for 8 hours.

It is the reminder of the Sunday night blues that used to hit me in the early evenings every Sunday because I knew I had to go to work the next day.

I have other reasons why the success of this business matters to me, but the fear of the two previous things mentioned keeps me motivated because I don’t EVER want to go back to that.

Life is too short to waste it in a state of sadness over something I have 100% control over. “If you don’t like where you’re planted, MOVE, you are not a tree!”

The Importance of Self Shares on Poshmark

If you’re new here you should know something about me…I’m a RESEARCH JUNKIE.

I never start anything new without reading just about anything I can get my hands on about the subject.

So when I joined Poshmark in July of 2018, a posher who commented on my “Meet the Posher” listing to welcome me to the platform, told me I should join some Poshmark related Facebook groups.

As I found a few good ones to participate in, I realized that these groups had post after post on particular Posh related subjects that I knew nothing about. Even better, you can search within the group for different keywords related to a specific topic.

My current favorite group is Poshmark Analytics. This group does a lot of experimenting and reporting back to see what is working for everyone to get sales. The group was created by Lyn McLaughlin Cromar, who is also the creator of the 30 Minute Method. 

It was in this group that I learned the importance of mixing my sold listings in with regular listings, and it was also in this group that I learned the importance of self sharing my closet. I learned that the successful sellers on Poshmark pay attention to not only how much they are sharing daily, but what their “30 Day Self Share” number is as well.

Where can I find my 30 day self share number?

This number can be found in your Posh Stats section. If you are already a Poshmark Ambassador, you may be familiar with checking this number.

The Theory: 

What I took away from this groups conversation about self shares was that keeping your self shares at or around a certain number increases your sales.

What I could gather from the comments on several different posts is that 20,000-45,000 self shares seem to be the sweet spot for making consistent sales. 

Moral of the story for me was the more self shares the better. More self shares = more sales.

Although a quick disclaimer; I did read where someone said once they got past a certain number of self shares they stopped noticing an increase in sales.

However, I don’t think sharing too much is a problem for a lot of us. I think we probably don’t share our own closets enough. Which I completely understand why. It is tedious work. There is nothing sexy about clicking the share button on your own listings 1,000 times in a day.

I should also note that self-sharing a lot is NOT spamming your followers so if you’re new to Posh don’t feel bad when you share your closet 5-10x in a day.

Don’t worry, your followers aren’t seeing you as much as you think they are. Which is why it is recommended you self share multiple times in a day.

Poshmark Weekly Review #9 My Unique Advantage and Reserved Listings

Weekly Review: Week of January 7th-January 13th

Numbers for the week: 

  1. Items Sold: 17
  2. Gross Sales: $327
  3. Average Sale Price: $19.23
  4. Items Listed: 28
  5. Total Available Listings: 145

I don’t usually share cost of goods because as a business owner, that is one of the things I choose to keep to myself.

What is working this week?

As always, I think sprinkling sold listings throughout my closet is beneficial. As of now, to keep it from being the same sold listings mixed in, when I make a sale I share that sale to the top of my closet.

Also from my data I have noticed that I have now reached the point where I consistently make one sale a day. Although I’m not 100% sure whether to attribute that to number of active listings (145) or number of followers (37,841).

Also, mixed into that 17 items sold this week, I had one bundle sale of 8 items that sold for $150. This was my largest bundle sale to date and it was from a repeat customer.

I’ve been on Poshmark for six months and have acquired about three repeat customers. I’m slowly building that number up and I’m grateful!

My Unique Advantage 

When I started Poshmark I knew I wanted to focus on plus size clothing. As a plus size woman myself, I knew how frustrating it was to try to find clothes that fit. I knew how frustrating it was to feel like there are no stores that really cater to plus size women. So I saw a hole in the marketplace and decided to use Curvy Girl Resale to fill it.

I’ve seen recently on Instagram people attribute some of the more popular Poshers success to other things. They’ll say “oh they have 10,000 followers that’s why they’re successful” or “well they’re pretty so that’s why they’re successful.” OR my least favorite “Well they’re a pretty white girl and that’s why they’re successful because people won’t buy from me when they see that I’m black.”

You guys, let me tell you something…the market DOES NOT CARE what color you are. If you provide value you will win. SIMPLE.

Realize that each and every one of us has a unique advantage. Something that we do better than our competition. Instead of saying you’re not successful because you don’t have X,Y,or Z, spend that time trying to figure out what your unique advantage is and USE THAT.

Stop buying into the lies, its distracting. Yes, there are people who won’t buy from you because you’re black, but I think those people are in the minority. Don’t cripple yourself with a limiting belief like that.

Reserved Listings

Finally, let’s talk about reserved listings. Last month I was sharing my closet and I noticed a yellow banner across the bottom of one of my listings that said “reserved.”

“I didn’t know people could reserve listings in my closet,” I thought. So after some searching in Facebook groups I realized the reserved sign ONLY appears if a customer has clicked “buy now” and is in the process of purchasing the item.

You can’t add the reserved sign to a listing, unfortunately. However, even though I don’t control it I still get excited when I see that yellow reserved sign on one of my listings because that means I’m about to make a sale.

Curvy Girl Resale: Poshmark Week In Review #8 Modeling Clothes and What Sold

Week of December 31st – January 6th

I am having a great time modeling the clothes for my Poshmark closet, and I am so grateful to my husband who has stepped up to take the role of Poshmark photographer.

I’ve heard several Poshers say that modeling the items for your closet isn’t sustainable, but I disagree. For me personally, as of now, I’m enjoying it.

I think if it’s something you enjoy it won’t feel so much like work. Also, I have help. Initially, when I started modeling the clothes for my closet I was doing it by myself.

Now, every Saturday my husband and I take an hour for me to model the clothes and for him to photograph me in them.

To prepare for the upcoming photo shoot, throughout the week I will set aside clothes that I think will look good modeled vs on the mannequin or hanging up. Its usually about ten items.

Can’t say I’ll model the items in my closet forever, but I have gotten positive feedback from my customers. So, for now, if it makes my customers happy I’ll keep doing it because that is customer service 101.

I do get asked quite a bit, “Should I model the clothes for my closet?” My advice, if you feel comfortable I would recommend it. I think it helps give your customer an idea of what the item looks like on.

However, I do always like to provide the counter-argument. The counter-argument says that you shouldn’t model the clothes because while people know the clothes are used, you modeling them reinforces the fact that they are used and people don’t like that.

Honestly, that has not been my personal experience but like I said, I want you to be aware of the counter argument.

I don’t think I would have sold one of my recent sales as fast without me modeling the item.

I do have a mannequin, but she isn’t a Plus Size mannequin so sometimes my Plus Size body needs to get the job done.

I believe the top below would have taken a lot longer to sell if it wasn’t modeled. I checked the solds before listings and there were very few solds.

Also side note, this item sold for $20. For those of you guys who are unfamiliar with Poshmark, the item was not originally $999. That is a placeholder! It requires you to put in an original price, but when I don’t know the original price I use $999.

Numbers for the week:

I had a vision board party at my house on New Year’s Eve, and one of my friends who attended bought several things from me. The perks of having a rack of unlisted clothes visible. Yay! Okay numbers…

  2. Gross sales: $249
  3. Average sale price: $16.60
  4. Items listed: 13

I’m way behind on my goal of ten listings a day but I can honestly say I’m getting faster and am coming up with a pretty good system.

Overall it was an amazing sales week for me! Notice, the majority of the brands I sold are not super popular brands. Again, my goal is quantity to get to quality. Sifting through large quantities of clothes will help me figure out what are my best sellers. Hence my goal of 3,000 listings by December 2019.

I know there are a lot of sellers who won’t “waste time” selling items that sell for less than $30 but for now, as a relatively new reseller I’m not quite so picky.

Also, I think its important for people who have access to what is considered lower end brands to know that they can sell those items, but with the realistic expectation that they may have a lower sale price.

How to Share Likes to a Customer’s Bundle on Poshmark

I have several different sales strategies in my toolbox for Poshmark and today I want to share one with you: direct sharing likes to the customer’s bundle.

When a customer likes multiple items in my closet, I often share those likes to their bundle and make them an offer.

Often customers don’t realize that if they put all of their likes together they’ll save on shipping and likely get a better deal.

Some sellers might argue against sharing likes to their bundle. Their argument is the customer could do it themselves if they were interested in bundling, but 9 times out of 10 customers aren’t even sure what our signs that say “bundle your likes for a discount” even mean.

Sharing likes to their bundle can be a little confusing though, so today I’m going to show you how I do it. We’re going to use my husband’s closet for the example.

First I had the hubs go like multiple things in my closet.

So once they have liked multiple items, go to their profile and click on their shopping bag icon in the top right corner to get to their bundle.

Once you’re there, click on those little ellipses in the top right corner.

Once you click those several options will pop up. Click “switch to sell view.”

Now, once in sell view you will see EVERYTHING they have liked from your closet at the bottom of their bundle. Click the share button.

There will be several users bubbles in your recent section next to the search icon. His is first because I was just on his account. I then click his bubble and it shares my item directly to him.

Go through and share each of the items they have liked. You’ll need to refresh the page so they all appear.

Once they are all shared you can make an offer.

After I have shared and made an offer I will also leave a comment.

DO NOT just send the offer and run lol. Good customer service is reaching out to your customers and communicating effectively with them.

Hope this helps those of you guys who seriously struggle with how to add likes to a bundle. I know it was a struggle for me until I figured it out.

Curvy Girl Resale: Poshmark Week In Review #6

Week of December 10th – December 16th

I am slowly adding more tools to my reselling toolbox. This past weekend the hubs and I picked up a new dress form mannequin from Hobby Lobby. Oh the looks he got carrying that thing through Hobby Lobby.

Cardigans do really well for me so I will continue to pick those up. Also, I was really surprised by how well ugly Christmas sweaters did in my closet this year. I plan to stock up on those year round so that next Christmas I will have plenty to list!

This was my first Christmas season as a reseller, but I sold every single Christmas sweater I listed this year. I think there were about 8 or 9 of them.

SOURCING

For the past few weeks, I have been purchasing clothes directly from friends before they take their items to Goodwill. I like this strategy and will continue to use it in the future.

I was able to source about 40 items from a friend’s cousin for a really good price.

My goal as of now is to list 3,000 items in 2019 so I need to be sourcing like a mad woman. I am inspired by people like Chris at Daily Refinement, and the podcast hosts for “The Scavenger Life.” They each have HUGE stores and that is my goal to.

There is a part of me that wonders how reasonable I’m being with this goal, but then I think, lets just see how big we can build this thing!

It’ll be interesting at the end of 2019 to see how close I came to actually hitting that goal.

Mercari

In other news, Mercari has announced Mercari UK is coming to an end. I’m not a big user of Mercari but I know some of you are. I don’t know if this means anything for Mercari US but I’m sure it comes as a blow to sellers in the UK who have a lot invested in Mercari.

Curvy Girl Resale: Poshmark Week In Review #4

I love doing this weekly review because when I have a slow sales day, it gives me plenty of data to look back on and see that I’m actually not failing.

This week, November 26th – December 2nd was one of the best sales weeks I had on Poshmark since I joined in August of 2018.

I had 7 sales! One was a bundle sale, so I shipped out a total of 9 items.

One of the strategies that I have been trying is mixing sold listings in with my available listings. At first, I would just let all of my sold listings move to the bottom of my closet, but after doing some research in the Poshmark Analytics Facebook group I decided to give this strategy a try.

Honestly, it seems to be working.

So the main two things that are working for me right now?

  1. Direct Sharing people’s likes to their bundle and then making an offer.
  2. Mixing in sold listings with my available listings.

I’ll keep you updated on additional strategies that are working for me.

My total active listings at the time of this writing: 87

My total listings: 162 (this counts sold and available listings, and is actually the number that shows up at the top of your closet on Poshmark)

So what sold for me this past week?

Overall I am happy with the sales week I had! I feel like each week I learn a little more and get a little better. I am also finding a solid routine that I can stick to while working full time.

Sticking to this routine keeps me from getting stressed…okay partially lol.

I wake up at 5:00 a.m. every morning. From 5:30-6:00 I list what is ready to be listed. If all of my list pile is listed then I photograph items. From 6:00-6:30 a.m. I package the listed inventory and assign an inventory number to it. This is all before work.

Then at 3:00 in the afternoon, I leave work to pick up my son for school. If I have orders that need to be shipped I will package and ship those before picking up my other son from daycare and my husband from work. Right now we’re riding around and getting it with one vehicle. Womp womp.

After dinner, and after the kids are in bed, the hubs heads to the gym and I head to my office for my final hour of work. From 8:00-9:00 each night I self share my closet and then steam the items I want to photograph and list the next morning.

Rinse and repeat each day. Like Aristotle says “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Curvy Girl Resale: Poshmark Week In Review #3

So far this week, November 19th – November 25th, I’m up to 78 active listings. My goal is to get to 100 active listings. I did make it to 81 active listings but then I sold a few items and it knocked me back down to 78. I am constantly listings and selling so the number goes up and down.

Total listings though, including sold listings is 138.

Now lets talk about what sold for me this week on Poshmark.

I had three bundle sales (meaning the customer purchased more than one item) and five single item sales.

So what sold? Here’s a quick photo snapshot of what sold this past week for me.

You’ll notice that some of these items are priced really low. Those are what we call “bad buys” and not things that I intend to pick up again. They were also some of my first purchases so I didn’t really know what I was doing when sourcing.

I will definitely continue to buy more plaid, especially for this time of year. I was shocked  when the Panama City Beach shirt sold. When I bought it I thought to myself “No one is going to buy this!”

I have got to stop doing that though, because usually the things I say no one is going to buy are the things that end up selling.

 

 

In other news I am extremely grateful for my husband who is always willing to drop off my packages for me at the post office. Also, I may be creating a monster because the hubs started a Mercari store and has four items listed and he is hunting for more.

Y’all should see how excited he gets talking about his store. Love him! ❤

I have achieved most of the goals I set for myself for the month of November.

My first goal was to get to 720 Instagram followers and I far exceeded that goal. At the time of this blog post I’m up to 969 followers.

I am grateful to my reseller friend Honey.Rags on Instagram. She gave me a shoutout and I got an influx of followers from her post. You can find her on youtube HERE. She is awesome! Watch all of her Poshmark videos!

Curvy Girl Resale: Poshmark Week In Review #2

This past week, November 12th-November 18th, started off slow. I went four days without a sale. However, Friday before 9:00 a.m. I sold two items back to back and then Saturday I sold my very first five piece bundle!!

I hesitate to make any predictions based off of these results however. I am learning about the only solid prediction I have about Poshmark is that just when you think something is working in your favor and caused you to make a sale, when you replicate those exact same actions they don’t necessarily result in a sale a second time. Womp womp

I will however, draw the conclusion that the weekends are prime selling time. I may be spinning my wheels during the week spending so much time self sharing my closet when people are more likely to buy either on the weekend or around payday.

What sold in the bundle? Two Michael Kors shirts that I have had listed literally since I started on Poshmark in August. A sleeveless shirt from Maurices and a sleeveless shirt from Kohl’s. The brand was Roz & Ali.

The other items I sold over the weekend were a pair of Gap Jeans size 18 and a “I’m Not Bossy I’m the Boss 2X” sweatshirt.

My closet does focus on sizes large and up. Several times I have thought about branching into smaller sizes, but from my online marketing days I know it is better to have a niche market to begin with.

The specialist always makes more than the general practitioner. One of my favorite online marketing experts loves to say “If you’re talking to everybody, you’re talking to nobody.”

So far this month I have listed 40 new items in my closet. My goal is to list 50 per month. That feels like an attainable/sustainable goal for me, especially since I’m working full time.

My goal for this month was also to get to 21,000 followers and I have crushed that goal. I changed up my following strategy and it really helped.

As a Poshmark Ambassador, I automatically get several followers a day who are brand new to the app. I have noticed, that most new people automatically start out following 142 people.

I go find new people who only have one listing but are following 142 people, and then I follow all 142 of those people. Why? Because I have noticed that these tend to be active users who are more likely to follow back.

I know this strategy is working for me, because I started the month at 19,500 followers. The month is not over yet, but I am at 21,547 followers.

My favorite thing about Poshmark is setting these goals for myself every month and then working my but off to accomplish them.

It’s not easy, but despite the madness I do find it kind of fun.
